According to a Right to Information (RTI) document, Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has made 26 foreign trips in the last seven years. The RTI document was obtained by Adv. C.R. Pranakumar, an RTI activist and Congress leader.
Over various years, he has spent a total of 173 days traveling abroad. These trips occurred in 2016, 2017, 2018, 2019, 2022, 2023, and 2024. Notably, during the COVID pandemic years of 2020 and 2021, the Chief Minister did not undertake any foreign trips.
His first foreign trip as Chief Minister was to the UAE in 2016, accompanied by officials. In 2017, he visited Bahrain for five days. In 2018, he traveled to the United States three times and made one trip to the UAE. In 2019, he visited several countries, including the Netherlands, Switzerland, France, the UK, Japan, and South Korea, along with two visits to the UAE.
In 2022, he visited the US and the UAE twice each, along with single visits to Norway and the UK. His travels continued in 2023, with trips to the US, Cuba, and the UAE. The report from the Protocol Department confirms that the Chief Minister has made a total of 26 foreign trips.
