Prime Minister Narendra Modi has released the 19th installment of the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme to farmers. Rs 22,000 crore has been transferred directly to the bank accounts of 9.8 crore farmers.
The central government has launched the PM Kisan Samman Nidhi scheme as part of its efforts to increase the income of the farming community. Under the scheme, each beneficiary gets Rs 2,000 every four months. The annual benefit is Rs 6,000 in three equal installments per year.
With the release of the 19th installment, the total amount transferred by the government under the PM Kisan scheme has increased to Rs 3.68 lakh crore. Launched in February 2019, PM Kisan is the world’s largest DBT (Direct Benefit Transfer) scheme. The scheme is aimed at helping farmers meet their expenses for purchasing seeds and fertilizers.
