Prime Minister Narendra Modi departs for the United States on three-day visit. Foreign Ministry spokesperson Randhir Jaiswal shared on social media that the Prime Minister is heading to the US for key discussions.
Modi is visiting the US to participate in the Quad and UN summits. His visit is considered politically significant as it comes amid the ongoing US election campaign. The votes of Indian-Americans are seen as crucial in the American presidential election, making the Prime Minister’s visit a subject of discussion.
The Prime Minister will attend the 6th Quad Leaders Summit in Wilmington, Delaware. The summit begins today and Modi’s US visit will continue until the 23rd of this month. The Quad consists of India, Australia, Japan, and the United States as member countries.
This will be the last Quad summit with the current leaders, as US President Joe Biden and Japan’s Fumio Kishida have both announced they will step down after this term. Biden has stated he will not run in the upcoming elections, and Kishida has also recently confirmed that he will not seek re-election.
