Pune Court has ordered Rahul Gandhi to appear on the case of defamatory speech against VD Savarkar

Mumbai: The Pune Judicial First Class Magistrate Court has ordered Congress leader Rahul Gandhi to appear in person on August 19 in the case of defamatory speech against VD Savarkar during his UK visit. The action was taken on a complaint filed by Savarkar’s grandson Satyaki Savarkar.

The alleged defamation was made on March 5, 2023 at the Overseas Congress meeting in Britain. Satyaki pointed out that Rahul Gandhi made the allegations with the intention of damaging Savarkar’s reputation and psychologically hurting himself and his family. Satyaki submitted several news reports and a YouTube link of the video of Gandhi’s speech in London as evidence in the complaint.
