People with more than two children are not eligible for government jobs, the Supreme Court approved the law

New Delhi: The Supreme Court approved the Rajasthan government’s law that if there are more than two children are not eligible for government jobs.
The ‘Two Child Policy’ was approved in 1989 . The decision of the Supreme Court was while considering the petition challenging the law. The court held that the law was not discriminatory.

The judgment belongs to a three-member bench consisting of Justices Surya Kant, Dipankar Datta, K.V Viswanathan. The Supreme Court upheld the Rajasthan High Court judgment issued on October 12, 2022 and rejected the petition filed by ex-serviceman Ramji Lal.

Ramji Lal, who retired from the Defense Forces in January 2017, had applied for the post of constable in Rajasthan Police in May 2018. But since he had more than two children after June 1, 2002, the application was rejected under the Rajasthan Police Subordinate Service Rules, 1989. With this, Ramji Lal approached the Supreme Court.
