The Supreme Court has ruled that a woman can stay in her husband's house even after getting a divorce

The Supreme Court has ruled that a woman can stay in her husband’s house even after getting a divorce. This judgment of the Supreme Court is above the judgments of the courts. The Supreme Court has ruled that a divorced woman’s husband or their family cannot be evicted from their home and the woman has the right to remain in the house. The order was passed by a bench comprising Justices Ashok Bhushan, R Subhash Reddy, and MR Shah.

The decision of the Supreme Court is based on a petition filed by Satish Chander Ahuja against the 2019 Delhi High Court judgment. The Delhi High Court ruled that Satheesh’s daughter – in – law Sneha Ahuja had the right to live in the house. The High Court verdict came as Sneha was moving ahead with legal proceedings to get a divorce from her husband Raveen Ahuja. The apex court rejected a petition filed by Satheesh alleging that his son Raveen Ahuja was not entitled to the house he had built by his own efforts and that his wife Sneha would be entitled to it.
