Helsinki: Prominent rationalist and writer Sanal Idamruk has been arrested in Poland in connection with a 2020 visa fraud case. The arrest was made at Warsaw Modlin Airport in Poland. An Interpol Red Corner Notice had been issued against Sanal.
Finnland media reports that authorities detained Sanal Idamurak at Warsaw Modlin Airport in Poland on March 28. The Finnland Ministry of Foreign Affairs also confirmed that Sanal Idamurak was arrested. Sanal had arrived in Poland to attend an international conference.
Sanal, who left India in a blasphemy case, had been living in Finland since 2012. It is reported that Sanal Idamurak was arrested in Poland based on a Red Corner Notice issued by Interpol at the behest of India.
