The new Chief Minister of Delhi will be announced on February 20, according to official confirmation from the BJP. Initially, the announcement was set for February 18, but due to the rescheduling of the Legislative Party meeting, the oath-taking ceremony has now been pushed to the 20th. The ceremony will take place at Ram Leela Maidan, and the Legislative Party meeting, originally scheduled for today, has been moved to the 19th.
BJP General Secretaries Vinod Tawde and Tarun Chugh will oversee the oath-taking ceremony, which will be attended by Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Chief Ministers, NDA leaders, Union Ministers, industrialists, film and cricket stars, and religious leaders.
Several names have been suggested for the position of Delhi Chief Minister, with the prominent candidate being Parvesh Verma. Verma was BJP’s key figure in challenging AAP leader Arvind Kejriwal. After defeating Kejriwal, Verma’s political strength grew significantly. Another contender for the position is Satish Upadhyay, who has served as both Delhi BJP President and Delhi Youth Wing President. Ashish Sood, known as BJP’s Punjabi face in Delhi, is also considered a possible candidate. Jitender Mahajan is also seen as a strong contender.
Rekha Gupta, former Delhi Mayor and the first woman MLA from Delhi, is the only female leader on the list. After 27 years, BJP has regained control of Delhi, winning 48 out of 70 seats, while AAP managed only 22. AAP leaders like Arvind Kejriwal, Manish Sisodia, Saurabh Bharadwaj, and Satyendar Jain suffered defeats in this election.
